Treaty
In Antarctica, to claim land you have to sign a peace treaty. This treaty applies from 60 degrees south. 53 nations have signed it, accepting the rules, and now owning land. The treaty has specific things not allowed. No military action is allowed, no hunting animals permitted. Nuclear actions are not permitted apart from scientific use. Anything that will impact or hurt the ice is not allowed either. This treaty was first signed on December 1 1959, in Washington. However, the treaty didn't become active until the 23rd of June 1961. Its purpose is to make Antarctica prosper 'forever', in a peaceful purpose. This shows that it is in use to make it prosper.
